Internships play an important role as they not only offer the students with a first-hand opportunity to understand what it is like to work in the industry, but through the experience provide them with greater clarity on the role that they would like to play when they join the trading sector in the future. ITI@SMU works closely with companies and the students to ensure that the students secure placement opportunities that will make their education more complete. Students have interned with leading companies such as Phillips 66, Emirates National Oil Company, Shell, Trafigura, Concordia, InterChem, Stemcor, ABN Amro, JustCommodity and Rabobank, just to name a few.
These internships also provide ITI@SMU Industry Partners with the opportunity to build up its recruitment pipeline, by identifying talent (including award recipients) who have the training, knowledge and skills to be assets to their teams. Partners have priority in selecting the best and brightest ITT students as their interns.
